The Women’s World Cup kicks off today, and the US will enter as one of the tournament’s unequivocal favorites. They bring not only head-turning skills and ability to Canada, but also the support and adoration of the millions of fans whom they inspire every day.
The latest short film from Nike, American Woman, captures the team training, as well as the legions of young girls who are inspired by Team USA in their own lives, all set to the tune of the classic “American Woman,” by the Guess Who.
Players in the new spot — Abby Wambach, Alex Morgan, Sydney Leroux, Carli Lloyd, Christen Press and Megan Rapinoe — all wear the new collection of women’s-specific boots: Hypervenom II, Mercurial, Magista and Tiempo.
