As the namesake of Jordan Brand, you’d think Michael Jordan would love each and every creation birthed by the company, especially new variations on his original Air Jordans. And, as evidenced by Complex’s recent shopping-trip video with Macklemore, you’d be wrong.
While shoe shopping with Joe La Puma at Seattle’s Recess, Macklemore related the story of finally meeting MJ, and getting His Airness’s two cents on the Thrift Shop rapper’s then-in-the-works green Air Jordan 6 collaboration. Said MJ: “I don’t like green. Fuck green. It reminds me of some Christmas shit. No one’s trying to wear some Christmas shoes.”
Undeterred, Macklemore went through with the green Air Jordan 6 anyway, a shoe that’s gone on to garner significant acclaim. Still, when Michael Jordan hates your Air Jordan, it has to give you at least a bit of pause.
